Maite Arroitajauregi ‘Mursego’ has performed the Korrika song under the title ‘Harro Herri’, in line with the slogan of the 2024 edition. Arroitajauregi explained that it is “different” among the works done so far, because there are few commissioned works, which led us to set some limits for ourselves, but to question the inertia or habits that are usually present with such songs: that there is no one way to run, that there is no single song, that the path has ups and downs.”

The creator pointed out that the song has 6-7 different parts and that the listener will find three different songs in it, such an “unnoticed mini symphony”. It is also innovative in terms of style, with “accelerations, dissonances, kind of chaos, gestures”, etc. because ‘Mursego’ opened the door for them. In this regard, and even though the voices of several singers have been used, Arroitajauregi has chosen not to single out anyone in order to “represent a mass”.

Although it has been a long process – he has sketched two hundred tracks and listened to them thousands of times – the musician added that they enjoyed it: “We started from the lyrics to make a pop song, and once we had the skeleton and the main melody fairly clear, we started to propose and play around with various ideas throwing and arguing, until we agree 100%.’ Thus, the song has been classified as “popbarro”.

In terms of reception, they have taken into account that a song like this is aimed at a wide audience, and that it should be equally suitable for children to sing and dance, for a friendly party, or to shout together on the road.

Ane Elordi was also in charge of the Run at the presentation at the Juan Bautista Gisasola music school in Eibar. The appearance was also used to present the video clip. As the latter explained, it was made by Amaia Badiola Elgezabal and, above all, it is made up of images from the archives of previous editions: “23 editions and 43 years give a lot; among other things, to see how remarkable all kinds of evolutions are in KORRIKA: society, claims, aesthetics, ways of communicating… as well as the techniques for capturing all these things.’ In fact, this progression of time also represents the resistance of the Basque language. According to the author, “Sometimes the music video is nostalgic, sometimes it’s cute, and it can also be ‘punk’.”

It will be the 23rd edition of the march in favor of the Basque language, it will start on March 14th from Irundi and end on the 24th in Bayonne, ending with a celebration and the reading of the secret message.
