Major Jayant, who died in a helicopter crash, was cremated with military honours

Jayant (35) son of Arumugam-Malika couple from Jayamangalam, Theni district. He was serving in the Indian Army. Major Jayant and Lt Reddy died in an accident in Tiran area of ​​Arunachal Pradesh.

Jayant’s body was brought to Madurai by an army helicopter last night. Later he was taken to his hometown Jayamangalam in an ambulance. The public and ex-servicemen paid their respects in a long line to the body of Major Jayant which was kept at Jayamangalam Panchayat Office today.

After that, Major Jayant’s body was placed near the Ex-Servicemen’s Welfare Association and cremated with state honors with 21 blasts. The event was attended by Minister E. Periyasamy, Theni District Collector Shajivana, Superintendent of Police Praveen Umeshdongare, Dindigul District S.P. Bhaskaran, Saravanakumar MLA, Theni North District DMK Secretary Thangathamichelvan.

Major Jayant studied up to Plus-2 in a private school in Madurai. After that he studied B.Sc Mathematics in Madurai Private College. Selected as best student in college NCC and achieved record in shooting competition. For this, he participated in the Republic Day and received a medal. He joined the army in 2010. He was a Lieutenant in Kashmir in 2011 and a Captain in Gujarat in 2014.

Selected in pilot training and promoted to pilot at Srinagar in 2018 and major at Missouri Military Center in Assam in 2021. In 2019, he got married to Chelasaradhasree, a B.Tech graduate from Dindigul.

She lives with her husband in Missouri military housing. Major Jayant’s father is living in the army quarters in Chennai.

Major Jayant’s father Arumugam said, “My father served in the army. My brother also served in the army. Similarly, I also tried to join the army and failed. Following this, I have been saying since childhood that my only son should join the army. He also continued to practice for it. I would be very happy if I could serve in the army for many more years. However, his current service is reassuring.
