Active attempts are being made to maliciously influence and disrupt the activities of the school management. There is no reduction in Italian language learning hours This is written in a press release sent to the media by the National Educational Complex for Culture with a lyceum for learning Italian language and culture with the participation of the Republic of Italy in the “Gorna Banya” district in Sofia (NUCC).

IS THE ITALIAN LANGUAGE STUDIED IN THE ITALIAN LYCEUM
/or how our students reached the national round of the Italian language Olympiad/
In connection with numerous questions submitted by the media to the management of NUKK Gorna Banya /for brevity referred to below as Italian Lyceum/, as well as in connection with several media publications of recent months, the management of the educational institution states the following:
1. Any suggestions about an “upcoming change of profile” of the educational institution do not correspond to the truth and are only intended to cause confusion in the activities of the school.
The national educational complex in culture with an Italian lyceum is and will remain so, which is guaranteed by the adopted Strategy for the development of the educational institution and by the strict observance of the relevant contract with the Italian side.
NUKK-Gonya Banya is and will remain the only educational institution of its kind in the country, as its cooperation with the Italian country /in the person of the Italian Embassy/ is deepening and even this year the practice of exchange with Italians, which was stopped many years ago, was restored students.
2. No changes were made in the Ordinance for the admission of students in the 8th grade, and the only changes in the curriculum were made, as a result of discussions with the Italian Embassy, from the 2nd grade, Italian language is compulsory.
3. There is no reduction in Italian language study hours. On the contrary, for the academic year 2023/2024, the unreasonably reduced Italian language classes were reinstated, which was carried out in gross violation of the dialogue between the Embassy of the Republic of Italy and the educational institution.
4. The school employs highly qualified teachers, including in Italian, and the quality of the educational process is guaranteed.
5. The museum collection of the school is not closed, but moved. The Italian lyceum won a project to build a specialized study in history, and the museum’s premises are the most suitable for the purpose. The museum collection will again be independently arranged and accessible to the students as soon as possible.
6. The Public Council and the School Board are always welcome to the held pedagogical councils for reporting activities, for which no special invitation is necessary.
Dear media, it is no secret that recently there have been active attempts to maliciously influence and disrupt the activities of the school management, but this is not due to any “signals” or “omissions”, but to the actions taken by the school management to receive the adequate rent due to the school for tenants external to the public school.
If there is an action by which the school management affected someone’s interests and caused illegitimate actions such as sending messages with false content through the Viber platform to the parents of the school and creating tension among them, then it is due to the actions of the management of the school actions corresponding to its obligation to protect the interests of the school, as well as those of state property.
