According to Lt. Alex Camacho of the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the pedestrian was attempting to cross the busy highway when he was hit by an oncoming tractor-trailer. “The man died at the scene as a result of his injuries,” Camacho stated.
The identity of the deceased and his age have not yet been released pending notification of next of kin. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The accident prompted the closure of four lanes of traffic on the southbound Florida Turnpike while investigators processed the scene. This resulted in substantial delays for commuters during the early morning hours.
“All lanes have since been reopened,” Camacho confirmed, allowing traffic to resume its normal flow. The FHP is urging drivers to exercise caution when traveling through construction zones and to be particularly vigilant for pedestrians.
