Jack N Jill Movie Review & Rating: ‘Jack and Jill’ is the latest film by Santosh Sivan, who has made a name for himself in Indian cinema and has gifted films like ‘Ananthabhadra’ and ‘Urumi’ to Malayalam. The film stars Manju Warrier, Kalidas Jayaram and Saubin Shahir in the lead roles and is a sci-fi comedy-mystery thriller.

‘Jack and Jill’ has received a lot of attention since its announcement as a Malayalam film directed by Santosh Sivan years later. The fact that Manju Warrier is the heroine has also raised the expectations of the audience. But it is disappointing to say that neither the film nor the director of Santosh Sivan was able to live up to those expectations.

Keshavan alias Kesh (Kalidas Jayaram) is a great American scientist. With great achievements in artificial intelligence, Kesh is returning home to complete his dream project ‘Jack and Jill’ with his ‘Humanoid’ – robot group (Saubin Shahir). It is an experiment that enables humans to use only 10% of their brain’s abilities to their full potential through artificial intelligence. At home, Kesh approaches his grandfather Colonel Nair (Nedumudi Venu) and his friends Ravi (Basil Joseph) and Dr. With the help of Subbu (Aju Varghese), the film tells the story of Parvati (Manju Warrier), a young woman with a slight mental disorder who is found suitable for the experiment, and then her experiments and the events that follow.

Jack N Jill Movie Review & Rating

‘Jack & Jill’ is a sci-fi comedy that has not been seen much in Malayalam. But the film forgets to make the audience laugh. Many jokes turn into swells. At the same time, logical issues are coming into the picture in a big way. The film does not do justice to the new style of enjoyment of Malayalees. The inconsistent script and some of the dramatic dialogues bore the audience for two and a half hours sitting in the theater.

The audience will be able to see a Manju Warrier who has never been seen before in ‘Jack and Jill’. Manju is amazing with great action scenes. Manju’s performance is a bit of a consolation factor in the overall disappointing film. Kalidas, who has been gaining attention in Tamil in recent times, is not able to maintain that excellence in this film. Saub, who has made Malayalees laugh with his natural humor, is also disappointing. Meanwhile, Basil Joseph, Aju Varghese and Indrans are doing better. The late actor Nedumudi Venu has also graced his role. The film stars Shaily Kishan, Esther Anil, Sethulakshmi, Sunil Varghese, Ida Sophie and Vineetha K Thampan.

As usual, Santosh Sivan has managed to make the film a good visual experience. Santosh Sivan’s touch was evident in some of the frames. At the same time, the arts department has failed to adapt the set to a modern science fiction film. The song ‘Kim Kim’ and the song ‘Angane’ sung by Manju in the film were excellent. The background music was also excellent. The songs are composed by BK Harinarayanan and Ram Sunder and the music is composed by Ram Surender, Gopi Sunder and Jaikes Bijoy.

‘Jack and Jill’ is a film that can be considered as a total layer experiment. In the next few days, we will know how acceptable this film is for the changed style of enjoyment of Malayalees.
