Great anxiety over the state of health of the well-known sportswriter and former MEP, Manolis Mavrommatis, who is intubated and in critical condition at the General Hospital after the fire that broke out early Sunday morning in his apartment in Kolonaki.

The well-known sportswriter is in critical condition and has several burns, while his wife has been intubated since yesterday in the Burns Unit of the hospital’s Plastic Surgery Clinic, as she has burns on 40% of her body surface after the fire in the Kolonaki apartment.

It is worth noting that the 83-year-old sportswriter has suffered 18% burns on his body, but his condition worsened in the last hours.

How did the apartment fire start?

It all started on Sunday morning when a fire broke out in the couple’s apartment in Kolonaki. The fire apparently started from the electric stove.

According to the Fire Department, when the fire broke out, the well-known sports reporter and his wife were sleeping in their apartment when it caught fire.

To extinguish the fire, 3 vehicles and 12 firefighters rushed immediately, while in just a few minutes the ambulance that transported them to the hospital “G. Gennimatas” who was pastor.

They were immediately transferred to the Burn Unit of the Plastic Surgery Clinic. Doctors determined that his wife needed to be intubated and she was put on mechanical support due to her critical condition.
