Marcos Leonardo is a player of Benfica. Officialization was the missing step for the process to be concluded and this came, this Thursday at the end of the night, on the part of the red club.
In a statement, the Luz emblem announced an agreement valid for five and a half seasons with the Brazilian striker, that is, until the summer of 2029. The reds spent 18 million euros, for 100% of the pass, by the “creation” of Santos, just 20 years old. The player is protected by a release clause of 150 million euros.
In a statement sent to CMVM, Benfica also informs that Santos will also be entitled to receive a percentage of 10% of the value of an added value obtained in a future transfer of the aforementioned player.
Trained at Vila Belmiro, Marcos Leonardo reached the main team Fish in 2020 and since then he has been synonymous with goals. In the last two seasons, the striker has always surpassed the mark of 20 successful shots, even though 2023 ended with the emblematic Brazilian club’s relegation to the second tier.
When it comes to embracing a new project, the striker leaves behind a glorious stage with the club that formed him. For Santos, Marcos Leonardo scored goals for 54 occasions in 168 matches, with 30 assists. He now arrives at Luz to challenge Petar Musa, Casper Tengstedt and Arthur Cabral for a place in the eleven.
