On February 9 and 10 it will be performed at the Teatro Central, Firmamenthand in hand with Marcos Morau/La Veronal. This is the sixth piece of the same program to be programmed in this Sevillian theatre.
Marcos Morau has become a star of the contemporary dance scene with visually spectacular productions. He studied dramatic theory and choreography in his hometown of Valencia, as well as in Barcelona and New York. In 2005 he founded his own company, La Veronal, with a group of dancers and artists whose members come from sectors as diverse as theater, dance, photography, literature, etc. Nothing is foreign to him. He is a regular guest in the programming of the most demanding international theaters and festivals in the world. His elaborate stage works have been shown in opera houses and theaters in Lyon, Zurich, Copenhagen, Paris, Barcelona, Madrid and Basel, among others, and captivate both the public and the press.
Starting in the 2023/2024 season, he will be an artist in residence at the Staatsballett Berlin, where he will work for the first time on a new production with the Staatsballett Ensemble and the Staatskapelle Berlin.
As we have been aware of the Teatro Central’s programming in recent years, we find it very exciting to have witnessed many of the creations that have positioned this Valencian professional within the performing elite. Just finding out that he is bringing back one of his creations is already a reason to rush to get a ticket. As you can see, little can be said without being repetitive or unoriginal. So I prefer to give you the synopsis of Firmament:
Expelled from childhood, people who go through adolescence long for the time of play and, at the same time, are excited about the range of possibilities that opens before their eyes. They are experiencing a moment of change during which the way they see the world will be defined and the importance that the material or emotional world will have for them will be established. La Veronal and Marcos Morau invite the public to use intuition, to activate memory and senses to enter the labyrinth that the company’s shows represent. What are we watching? Where is the exit from this maze? Using language that defies logic and immerses us in confusion, mystery and reflection.
Firmament It aims to generate a magical space that contains infinite possibilities and reminds boys and girls that there are many possible realities beyond the one we live in.
