Argentine Health Sector Celebrates Innovation and excellence at Inaugural Martín Fierro Salud Awards
the Argentine Association of Television and Radio Journalists (APTRA) hosted the frist-ever Martín Fierro de Salud awards on November 18th in Buenos Aires, recognizing outstanding achievements in healthcare, innovation, and communication. This expansion of the prestigious Martín Fierro awards-historically focused on media-signals a growing national emphasis on wellness and the critical role of various sectors in advancing public health.
The ceremony,held at the Golden Center,brought together leaders and institutions dedicated to health innovation,spanning public hospitals,scientific research projects,and community outreach initiatives. The event underscored the breadth of Argentina’s commitment to improving well-being across all levels of society.
A night of Recognition and Inspiration
The evening was marked by both party and poignant reflection. Dr. Alberto Cormillot, a renowned specialist in nutrition and obesity, received the coveted Martín Fierro de Oro 2025, acknowledging his extensive and impactful career. According to sources at the event, Cormillot accepted the award with visible emotion.
Special recognition was also given to the Favaloro Foundation for 50 years of dedicated service. Laura, the great-niece of the late dr. René Favaloro, delivered a moving speech honoring her ancestor’s legacy and the foundation’s continued commitment to cardiac health.
Adding a cultural flourish to the evening, a extraordinary tango show entertained guests after 10 PM.

Health Education: The ROSSI CENTER FLU VACCINATION SOLIDARITY Campaign took the top prize, demonstrating the power of community-based initiatives in promoting preventative care. Other nominees included UNICEF Argentina’s #TYPICALADULTS Campaign, MEDIFÉ’s “NO EXCUSES” Campaign, and the ARGENTINE ADVERTISING COUNCIL + UNFPA’s “AN EASIER TALK” Campaign.
Research with Social Commitment: The Fleni Institute was recognized for its groundbreaking Translational research in neurosciences. The National University of San Luis, with its therapeutic growth for hemolytic uremic syndrome and identification of molecular targets, and the Italian Hospital of Buenos Aires’ TAI Trial (Individualized Antiretroviral Therapeutics) were also shortlisted.

The Provincial telehealth network – Córdoba, garrahan Hospital – City of Buenos Aires, and Intercultural health and telemedicine network – Province of Jujuy were also nominated. Andes Neuquén – Digital clinical history and Mi Salu NQN, and BOTI (CABA) and provincial replicas – Health shifts by WhatsApp were also finalists.
Equitable Access to Health: Buenos Aires digital health – Province of Buenos Aires was awarded for its efforts to expand access to healthcare services. the Provincial telehealth network – Córdoba, Garrahan Hospital – City of Buenos Aires, and Intercultural health and telemedicine network – Province of Jujuy were also nominated.
