Martín Vizcarra believes that Karem Roca has falsely accused him: “he exudes hatred against me” (Latina Noticias)
Former President Martín Vizcarra accused his former assistant Karem Roca of falsely accusing him of receiving alleged bribes in the Government Palace when he was head of state. The alleged bribes were the product of directing tenders in Provías Descentralizado, according to the investigation by the Special Team against Corruption of Power (EFICCOP).

In an interview with Latina Noticias, Vizcarra indicated that only Karem Roca claims to have seen the alleged delivery of money in briefcases and a blueprint tube.
“The protected witness is Karem Roca, a person who exudes hatred against me. And he has demonstrated this on several occasions. A statement has to be objective because it has to be impartial. If I hate a person, my position is subjective and I have to hurt them. There is only one person who declares that I have received (supposed money). (But there are effective collaborators) They will say about the contracts that I have no idea how they were handled. Only Karem Roca is the one who claims to have received money,” she declared.
Along the same lines, the former president assured that the accusation of the Prosecutor’s Office against him, regarding the fact that he would be the leader of a criminal organization, would be based solely on “the statements of Karem Roca.”

Likewise, Martín Vizcarra questioned that his former assistant has recently declared alleged bribes in his Government before the Prosecutor’s Office when she has been summoned on several occasions by different tax offices.
“Since Karem Roca left the presidential office, after she stopped being my employee, she has made at least 15 versions of various accusations. None has prospered because none has sustenance. Karem Roca has walked and toured as many television channels as will accommodate him. (…) If she has given so many interviews and so many statements to the Prosecutor’s Office, why did she never say it? An issue as serious as her boss, the President of the Republic, receiving money. What could be a more serious event? “She indicated.

Former president Martín Vizcarra hinted that he would take legal action against Karem Roca for pointing out former first lady Maribel Díaz Cabello as the person who supposedly handled the alleged money resulting from bribes.

“It is unforgivable to speak and tarnish the name of my wife or any other family member. Get involved with me, I am a politician, I am the one who has decided to compete, the one who disagrees with the measures of the Government and Congress, (but) my family is completely far from politics. “My wife is always on the sidelines of everything, she has never set foot in the presidential office,” she declared.
Finally, the former president denounced a “political hitman” and accused the “political enemies” he gained after dissolving Congress in 2019, “Fujimorism and the entire right that agreed with Patricia Benavides to exchange favors.”
During the interview with Latina Noticias, former president Martín Vizcarra took a few minutes to defend his former officials Carlos Revilla, former executive director of Provías Descentralizado, and Hugo Misad, his friend known as the ‘Turk’.
Regarding Carlos Revilla, who was arrested last Tuesday, Vizcarra assured that he is a good professional who has not only been in the State during his government, but from the administration of Ollanta Humala to that of Dina Boluarte.
Regarding the ‘Turk’, the former president acknowledged that he is his friend and stated that they will not find any element that could involve him in alleged criminal acts.
“Let them open Hugo Misad’s banking secrecy. He is my friend, we are both from Moquegua. He is an appointed official in the Moquegua regional government, he has more than 30 years of service, he is a long-standing professional. (…) He is a correct worker and surely when they lift his bank secrecy they will see that what the accusation says is absolutely false,” he indicated.
