Through a program implemented with AFIP and Banco Nación, those who work in delivery applications will have labor coverage

After a meeting with workers who make deliveries through virtual platforms, the Minister of Economy Sergio Massa announced a series of measures that aim to improve their working conditions. This is a coverage program, financed by the State through the AFIP and Banco Nación, to provide delivery drivers with the possibility of accessing a Work Risk Insurance Company (ART), a social work and making retirement contributions.

In parallel, the Argentine Ministry of Transportation and Trains reported that 24 rest areas will be built in train stations in the metropolitan area of ​​Buenos Aires (AMBA) that will provide virtual application workers with a space to charge their cell phones or take breaks in the middle of their work. Most of them travel on bicycles, on foot or on motorcycles to make deliveries. They will have food and drink vending machines, tables and chairs, safe places to store bicycles, lockers and video surveillance cameras.

Regarding the first section of the measures, Massa himself was in charge of explaining them. “We are implementing protection that guarantees access to ART, social work coverage and the right to retirement, based on a new system that articulates the insurance and social protection system from the AFIP with Banco Nación,” he detailed.

“What we want is that that worker who rides the motorcycle, the bike, on the street delivering, does not have an accident and is left without income, does not have loss of retirement rights, but is protected by the State,” he added. Massa.

In relation to the rest sites, the official communication indicated where they will be located. Indeed, these shelters called “Recargate” will be available at the stations of: Quilmes, Hudson, Claypole, Bosques, Adrogué, Temperley and Monte Grande on the Roca line; Dr. Sáenz and Independencia del Belgrano Sur; Retiro, Sáenz Peña, El Palomar, José C. Paz and Pilar del San Martín.

In addition, at the Lisandro de la Torre, Colegiales, Belgrano R, Drago and General Urquiza stops on the Miter line; and Flores, Haedo, Castelar, Ituzaingó and Merlo del Sarmiento.

The locations where they will be built were designated in conjunction with the collaborators of the most important companies in the sector, the government explained.

During the meeting, the Minister of Economy highlighted that the objective is “to reach those more than 600,000 Argentinians who often do it as their only job, and many times as a second job, participate in platform economies and until today were unprotected. . When the measures are implemented, as reported by the government, workers who provide delivery, delivery or product pick-up services, on their own or through companies dedicated to organizing said services through digital platforms that operate in the territory national, will be covered by a personal accident insurance policy, and civil liability against third parties for the provision of the services of their activity, through Banco Nación.

According to official data, in 2023, more than 200,000 people provided services at least once through delivery apps. This represents around 10% of the volume of monotributistas and 1.8% of employed people in Argentina. In turn, in 2022, the platforms generated income for a total of 67.5 billion pesos in the country, indicated by the Ministry of Economy.
