Gold worth Rs 1.83 crore has been seized from a passenger who landed at the Coimbatore airport in Tamil Nadu and the person who brought the gold has been arrested.

The Directorate of Revenue Investigation, Coimbatore, on Monday arrested seven passengers from Sharjah who smuggled gold weighing 3.5 kg and worth Rs 1.83 crore.

However, the person involved in the incident was caught from them. The arrested passenger has been identified as Firoz Rahman from Kozhikode, Kerala.

Gold hidden in waist bands and bangles was reportedly recovered from them.
