Mateu Ciurana wins the 42nd Bonmatí Award for Journalism for an article published in Diari de Girona

Mateu Ciurana has collected this Thursday evening, in an event held at the Casino de Girona, the 42nd Manuel Bonmatí Award for Journalism that is awarded annually by Rotary Club of Girona. The journalist, writer and filmmaker from Girona has been deserving of this award for the opinion article The dead and the sad waterpublished in the edition of Diari de Girona last October 28. “It is said that awards are as important as those who receive them give them and, therefore, this is a very important award, because it makes me very excited” Ciurana emphasizes, adding that the award has even more value because “it comes from the city that I love”. Regarding the award-winning article, the filmmaker and cultural manager emphasizes that the origin is in what he wanted “to remember the names of people who have left us and who are important for the city of Girona”. “I never got to know Manuel Bonmatí, but in James Weaver, who is already 90 years old, spoke to me a lot” adds the communicator, pointing out that “it is necessary for the city of Girona to recognize all these people, beyond dedicating a street or a tribute to them.
