On behalf of the Dharmapuri Municipality, the May Day celebrations were held in Dharmapuri yesterday under the chairmanship of Municipal Chairman Lakshmi Maadu and Deputy Mayor Nithya Anpalagan. Commissioner Chitra lauded the excellent work of the cleaners and wished them a happy May Day. He also presented certificates of appreciation and mementos to those who worked hard.
* In front of the Arur State Transport Corporation branch office, the late Chief Minister MGR, on behalf of the AIADMK, on behalf of the Arur MLA, Sampath Kumar paid homage by wearing a garland. Subsequently, the flag bearer handed out sweets to the transport workers.
* In Dharmapuri, AITUC, -CITU, on behalf of the trade union, held a daily rally near the Dharmapuri Periyar statue, AITUC, District Chairman Matheswaran Started.
* On behalf of the Anna union, AIADMK, MLA, Ashok Kumar, flag bearer, distributed sweets to workers and the public at the Krishnagiri Suburban Bus Depot and Chennai Road Town Bus Depot. It was attended by many including District Council Chairman Kathavarayan, former Dairy Chairman Thennarasu, City Secretary Kesavan.
* The May Day function was held at the Krishnagiri Municipal Office under the chairmanship of City Council President Barita Nawab. Of these, 500 persons, as municipal cleaners and contract employees, were provided with vetti, shirt, sari, bundi and biryani. Commissioner Murugesan, Eastern District, DMK, in charge Senkuttuvan, City Secretary Nawab and many others were present.
* At Uthangarai spinning mill, the flag was hoisted and sweets were distributed on behalf of the Anna union.
