Tatyana Leskova, the great-granddaughter of the author of Lefty and Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District, was born in Paris into a family of Russian emigrants. A student of the ballerina Lyubov Yegorova, she danced in the productions of the followers of Sergei Diaghilev – Mikhail Fokin, George Balanchine, was friends with Rudolf Nureyev. Leskova lived most of her life in Rio de Janeiro and is considered one of the founders of Brazilian ballet. In 2022, she received the Rio Branco medal of the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for her contribution to the development of dance art.
