Allegations of Sexual Assault and Campaign Donations Rock NYC Mayor Eric Adams

City Hall is pushing back against a sexual assault claim against Mayor Eric Adams, insisting he does not even know his accuser. The unidentified female accuser filed a summons in civil court late last night, accusing Adams of sexually assaulting her in 1993 when they were both working for the city. At the time, Adams was 33 and working as a captain within the NYPD.

The details of the allegations have not yet been made public, but a City Hall spokesperson told The New York Post today that Adams doesn’t know the woman. ‘If they ever met, he doesn’t recall it,’ they said.

The summons serves as a notice of a pending lawsuit and also implicates the NYPD’s transit bureau and Guardian Association as defendants. The female accuser says she worked for the city along with Adams at the time and utilized New York’s Adult Survivors Act to file the summons.

Adams, who is already facing harsh scrutiny for his campaign’s dealings with Turkish officials and associates, has not yet commented on the sexual assault claim. He was also criticized last week for vast budget cuts to the NYPD that will further reduce the number of officers on the streets by thousands. Earlier this month, the FBI raided the home of one of Adams’ campaign chiefs as part of an investigation into donations, leading to suspicions of illegal donations from Turkey.

Adams insists that no wrongdoing was done and is cooperating with the investigation. These allegations come at a critical time as Adams, who is in his first term as mayor, deals with multiple controversies. The claims of sexual assault coupled with the ongoing investigation into campaign donations are sure to have a significant impact on his mayoral tenure and political career.
