The Mayor of Astypalaia was revealing when speaking to in about the understaffing of his services.
“It’s been 2 years since cleaning employees retired in the Municipality, they have not yet been replaced, with the result that there is not a single permanent employee in this critical sector in the Municipality of Astypalaia” the Mayor of Astypalaia, Nikolaos Komineas, said exclusively in in to add to the next question us, how did this come about:
“After the retirement of the cleaning staff, their replacement with new hires was approved 2 years ago, but this has not been done since the relevant notice has not yet been published.”
How will the issue of understaffing be dealt with?

The problem is that these people will need training both in the handling of the machines and familiarization with the geographical relief of the area. I should point out that cleaning is a remunerative service to citizens and is included in the municipal fees they pay.”
