netflix and Archewell Productions have solidified their creative alliance, confirming a multi-year first-look deal for all film and television projects as of August 2025. The renewed partnership comes after a period of speculation regarding the duke and duchess of Sussex’s future with the streaming giant, signaling a continued commitment to content creation.
The agreement, initially forged in 2020 with a reported $100 million investment, aims to produce a diverse range of programming, including scripted and unscripted series, feature films, documentaries, and children’s content. “We are proud to expand our collaboration with Netflix and expand our work together to include the As Ever brand,” Meghan shared in a statement. “My husband and I are inspired by our partners who work closely with us and our team at Archewell Productions to create thoughtful content across genres that resonates globally and celebrates our shared vision.”
The initial foray into streaming was a important step for Harry and Meghan following their relocation to the United States.Archewell Productions quickly assembled a team of industry veterans from Disney and FilmNation to spearhead its production efforts. Their first major release, the 2022 docuseries Harry & Meghan, offered unprecedented insight into the couple’s decision to step back from royal duties and became Netflix’s most-watched debut documentary, achieving the largest premiere of the year in the UK, according to official audience measurements.
Despite some criticism surrounding the perceived value of certain projects relative to the investment, Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos publicly defended the couple’s creative contributions in March 2025. “I think Meghan’s influence on culture is underestimated,” Sarandos told Variety. “when we showed the trailer for the Harry & Meghan documentary series, the press dissected everything on screen for days.
