Fighting game fans will see the return of Melty Blood: Twi-Lumina launch globally for PlayStation 5, Switch 2, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam on April 22, 2027, according to an announcement by publisher Aniplex and developer French-Bread.

Global Platforms and Launch Timing for Twi-Lumina

The upcoming entry in the long-running franchise arrives with broad multiplatform support. Publisher Aniplex and developer French-Bread confirmed that the title will land on current and previous-generation hardware simultaneously. Players across multiple ecosystems can pick up the fighting game on launch day.

Language options span a wide geographic footprint to support international players. The game will support English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese text and interface options.

Character Rosters and New Visual Designs

Trailers released alongside the announcement showcase familiar fighters alongside newly revealed visual styles. Footage highlights battle scenes featuring characters such as Shiki Tohno, Arcueid, Ciel, and Len. Character designer Takashi Takeuchi also contributes a fresh visual design for White Len.

Additional promotional material highlights supporting characters from the extended universe. Type-Moon Games previously showcased Kohaku, detailing her background as a twin maid serving the Tohno family, her household duties, and her unconventional combat style utilizing a sword hidden inside a broom alongside explosive fire bombs.

Franchise History and Narrative Roots

The roots of the franchise stretch back more than two decades. Melty Blood originated as a 2D fighting game series from Type-Moon set within the fictional world of the visual novel Tsukihime. Following its initial PC release in 2002, subsequent iterations expanded to arcades, PlayStation consoles, and Steam.

This latest installment builds directly upon previous architectural iterations. The project serves as an updated version of Melty Blood: Type Lumina, which launched in 2021. That preceding entry featured a scenario penned by Kinoko Nasu set in the universe of Tsukihime: A Piece of Blue Glass Moon.

Refined Mechanics and Tokyo Game Show Presence

Developers promise upgraded battle mechanics and an expanded narrative framework for the upcoming release. Kinoko Nasu returns to write a new tale centered around Shiki Tohno, guiding players through battles across Souya City against various opponents.
