Kottayam> An MG University official who was caught while taking bribe from an MBA student to issue provisional certificate and marklist has been dismissed. CJLC (48), a native of Kottayam Arpukara, a university assistant in the MBA section, was dismissed. They were caught by the vigilance on January 29, 2022, while buying handwash. It was also found that they had corrected the mark list of MBA students by taking money.
Following the case, the university suspended them and conducted an investigation. Following the preliminary investigation report conducted by the committee consisting of syndicate members, Jo. Registrar N Srilatha was appointed. LC was found guilty in this investigation.
The Syndicate accepted the report and directed the VC to dissolve the LC and take further action. He then sought an explanation from them. In case the explanation was not satisfactory, the Pro VC in charge of the VC ordered the dismissal.
According to the inquiry report, he has committed serious misconduct, abuse of power, serious irregularity and misconduct as a university assistant. LC was also found to have tampered with the marks of one subject of the third semester Merci Chance examination of two MBA students. According to the investigation report, their role in taking bribes and correcting the marks on the counter foil is clear.
The LC was caught while taking Rs 15,000 as the first installment, demanding Rs 30,000 from a student who passed MBA from Etumanur Mangalam College in 2014-2016 batch to get her certificate quickly. The action was taken on the complaint of a student to the Vigilance Eastern Region SPG Vinodkumar. In the later investigation, the vigilance found that they had taken bribes from many other students. The vigilance found out that they took the money by promising to illegally win the losing students in Mercy Chance. Vigilance cases are ongoing.
