The American corporation Microsoft at its own presentation of the Xbox Game Showcase announced a new version of the Xbox Series S console with a 1TB SSD. The new console will ship in black and will be released on September 1, 2023 for $349.
The original Xbox Series S came with a 512GB SSD and shipped for $299. The more powerful Xbox Series X retails for $499. Head of Xbox division Phil Spencer said he does not see the need for a new generation of Xbox consoles. In addition, the presentation featured trailers for Fable and Star Wars: Outlwas, as well as Forza Motorsport and Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty.
Since March 2022, Microsoft has suspended activities in Russia, a subscription to Xbox Game Pass can now only be purchased using a VPN connection from other regions. Also in April 2024, the company ended Xbox warranty service in Russia, and in May, some Xbox users from Russia experienced problems logging into their account.
