Tyson is known as one of the hardest-hitting and most intimidating boxers in history. Soon, he will make a comeback when he faces Jake Paul in the boxing ring.
Paul is known from Disney Channel and YouTube, but in recent years he has also made a name for himself as a boxer.
It was heavily publicized when it was announced earlier this year that Tyson and Paul would meet. They were originally scheduled to fight in July, but the match had to be canceled.
– Started throwing up blood
This was due to Tyson suddenly becoming ill with a stomach ulcer. In a new Netflix documentary, the 58-year-old recounts the drama that led to the exhibition match being moved to November 15th.
– I was on a plane when I suddenly got sick. I went to the bathroom, and there I started throwing up blood. My friends started calling me as if I was dying, Tyson says in the documentary.

When he didn’t receive a reassuring message from the doctor, Tyson feared he was actually going to die.
– So I asked the doctor if I was going to die, and they wouldn’t answer. At that moment, I just thought damn. I sure as hell don’t want to die in a hospital bed, he says.
– Completely stunned
The 58-year-old is said to be in better shape now, and he will face Paul in a fight on November 15th in Texas before a crowd of 80,000 people.
– I was completely stunned when I got the news that the fight was postponed. I can’t decide what Tyson should do, but I see him as a “killer.” So it was really unexpected for me, says the 27-year-old.
Paul has fought eleven matches during his short combat sports career, ten of which have ended in victory.
Tyson has a bit more to show for it with his 50 wins from 58 fights. He held all the heavyweight titles between 1987 and 1990.
Interview between Time.news Editor and Boxing Expert
Time.news Editor: Welcome, everyone, to our exclusive interview with boxing historian and expert, Dr. Emily Reddick. Today, we’re diving into the much-anticipated comeback of the boxing legend Mike Tyson and his upcoming match against social media star-turned-boxer Jake Paul. Thank you for joining us, Dr. Reddick.
Dr. Emily Reddick: My pleasure! Exciting times for the sport, for sure.
Time.news Editor: Let’s start with the basics. Mike Tyson is a name that resonates with boxing fans around the globe. What are some key factors that have contributed to his reputation as one of the hardest-hitting boxers in history?
Dr. Emily Reddick: Tyson’s power and technique are unparalleled. He has an aggressive fighting style, combined with incredible speed and head movement. His ability to close distances and deliver devastating punches, especially the uppercut, has made him a fearsome opponent in the ring. Even at 58, he still commands respect.
Time.news Editor: Speaking of respect, this match against Jake Paul has certainly garnered a lot of media attention. What’s your take on a traditional boxing icon facing someone from digital platforms and entertainment like Paul?
Dr. Emily Reddick: It’s a fascinating juxtaposition. Jake Paul has successfully transitioned from YouTube and Disney Channel fame to boxing. He’s built a significant following and shown he can compete against various opponents. This match symbolizes a shift in boxing culture, blending traditional boxing with modern celebrity influence. It’s a new era in the sport.
Time.news Editor: You mentioned the audience’s shift. Given that Tyson and Paul are set to face off in November after an initial cancellation due to Tyson’s health issues, how do you think this impacted the hype around the fight?
Dr. Emily Reddick: The postponement added to the intrigue, for sure. Tyson’s illness, which turned out to be a stomach ulcer, served as a stark reminder of the physical demands of boxing, even for a legend like him. Moreover, it shows the importance of health and safety in these high-stakes situations. Fans are eager to see if Tyson can still perform at a high level after the health scare, and that anticipation only intensifies the buildup to the match.
Time.news Editor: Absolutely. Given the unique dynamics of this fight, who do you think holds the advantage going in?
Dr. Emily Reddick: Experience and raw power heavily favor Tyson. However, we can’t overlook Jake Paul’s youth and modern training methods. If Paul can leverage his speed and agility, plus the ability to adapt on the fly, he may stand a chance. But ultimately, Tyson’s experience and ferocity in the ring could prove to be decisive.
Time.news Editor: It sounds like it’s going to be quite the spectacle! Before we wrap up, what should fans keep an eye out for during this highly publicized matchup?
Dr. Emily Reddick: Definitely watch for Tyson’s early-round tactics—how he establishes his power and control. On the flip side, watch how Paul uses his movement and boxing strategy to potentially frustrate Tyson. The chemistry of their styles will be key to an exciting fight, and regardless of the outcome, it’s sure to leave an impression.
Time.news Editor: Thank you, Dr. Reddick, for sharing your insights with us today. This is shaping up to be a historic event in the boxing world!
Dr. Emily Reddick: Thank you for having me! I’m looking forward to seeing how it all unfolds.
