Northern Nevada Weekend Forecast: Mild Temperatures & Lake Tahoe Fog

A continuation of sunny, dry, and mild conditions is expected across northern Nevada this weekend, with a notable contrast in conditions between the Reno area and the Greater Lake Tahoe Area. Residents can anticipate pleasant temperatures, though freezing fog poses a potential hazard around Lake Tahoe.

The forecast calls for temperatures reaching the upper 50s throughout the region, with some locations potentially exceeding 60 degrees. Friday saw maximum temperatures in the upper 50s in the lower valleys, with the Reno-Tahoe International Airport officially recording a high of 58 degrees.

Reno Area Outlook: Chilly Starts & Near-60 Degree Highs

Reno residents should prepare for chilly mornings as temperatures dip close to the freezing mark of 32 degrees around 8 AM on Saturday. However, a warming trend is anticipated, with temperatures climbing into the lower 50s by noon and ultimately peaking near 60 degrees. The official forecasted high for Reno on Saturday is 59 degrees.

Lake Tahoe Area: Fog & Cooler Temperatures

The Greater Lake Tahoe Area faces a different scenario, with widespread fog and freezing fog expected to return on Saturday. This fog is attributed to atmospheric inversions and may limit daytime warming. South Lake Tahoe experienced a cooler Friday, reaching only 42 degrees, and Saturday’s high is forecasted to be 58 degrees.

Regional Winds & Continued Stability

Light winds are expected across the entire region, a result of a persistent high-pressure system. This stable weather pattern is expected to continue providing generally calm conditions.
