In view of the low enrollment of students in government schools, especially in Tamil Nadu, the Muvalur Ramamirtham Ammayar Memorial Marriage Financial Assistance Scheme is being renamed as the Muvalur Ramamirtham Ammayar Higher Education Guarantee Scheme.

He said that in order to prevent girls from dropping out of higher education, a thousand rupees a month would be deposited in a bank account until they joined the college and completed their studies. The project was well received in various quarters. At the same time, many people were dissatisfied with the suspension of the scheme to provide gold to Tali for the marriages of poor women. They are urging that the project be continued.

Speaking at an event in Madurai, Palanivel Thiagarajan said, ‘The gold project for Tali was only nominal for four years. Not active. It needed to be edited. Should change over time.
