The Vikings, now boasting a remarkable 46-game winning streak, showcased thier offensive firepower and defensive prowess, leaving there’s no doubt whatsoever about their status as the state’s top team.

Breckenridge started strong, capitalizing on an early chance too take a 7-0 lead after the first quarter. junior quarterback Riley Kappes connected with senior receiver Cooper Roberts on a 12-yard touchdown pass on a fourth-and-3 play with 1 minute, 19 seconds remaining in the opening period. However, the Vikings quickly responded, unleashing a 21-point barrage in the second quarter that shifted the momentum decisively.
Vikings Take Control in the Second Quarter
The turning point came as Minneota erupted for 21 unanswered points in the second quarter, initiating a stretch of 49 consecutive points. Vikings quarterback Tristen Sussner ignited the rally with a 1-yard touchdown run, tying the score at 7-7 with 8:16 left in the half. sussner then found Landon Esping for a 44-yard touchdown pass, extending the lead to 14-7 with 6:28 remaining. Continuing the offensive onslaught, Sussner added a 10-yard touchdown run, pushing the score to 21-7 with 4:48 to play before halftime.
“They’re a machine,” remarked a Breckenridge coach, acknowledging Minneota’s well-executed game plan and the team’s overall strength. “They’re really, really well-coached…they do a great job of scheming things up to put your guys in conflict, but then with it their kids play really hard, they’re really smart.”

Minneota continued to dominate in the third quarter, adding another 28 points to their total.Kellen Bradley punctuated the quarter with a 25-yard touchdown run, establishing a commanding 49-7 lead with 2:31 remaining. Sussner proved to be a dual threat, rushing for 30 yards and three touchdowns on just four carries, while also completing 5 of 8 passes for 112 yards and one touchdown.
Late Score for Breckenridge
Breckenridge managed a late touchdown when David Erlandson, lined up in a Wildcat formation, threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to Kappes with 11:57 left in the fourth quarter, making the final score 49-14. Erlandson led the Breckenridge offense with 123 rushing yards on 24 attempts, and Roberts contributed five catches for 118 yards and a touchdown.
