The Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent who fatally shot 37-year-old renee Nicole Good in minneapolis on Wednesday sustained meaningful injuries during a prior incident last June, when he was dragged by a vehicle during an arrest attempt.

The federal government has not released the agent’s name, but confirmed he was injured while attempting an arrest in June. Court records reveal the agent, identified as Jonathan Ross, suffered a “substantial wound” too his arm while attempting to detain a Guatemalan migrant.

Prior Incident: Dragged by Vehicle During Arrest

According to court documents, Ross, a member of a specialized ICE response team focused on high-risk warrants and deportations, was attempting to apprehend Roberto Carlos Muñoz in Minnesota on June 17th. When Ross instructed Muñoz to lower his window and open the door, Muñoz refused.

Ross reached into the vehicle to unlock the driver’s side door,at which point Muñoz accelerated, driving onto the curb and dragging Ross along with the vehicle for approximately 12 seconds. During the struggle, Ross deployed his Taser, striking Muñoz in the head, face, and shoulder, but was unable to promptly stop the vehicle.

the agent required over 50 stitches and sustained abrasions to his knee, elbow, and face. Photos included in court filings depict a man, presumably Ross, recovering in a hospital bed with injuries to his right arm.

Conflicting Accounts of Minneapolis Shooting

Federal officials maintain the agent acted in self-defense during the shooting of Renee Nicole Good. However, state officials dispute this claim, citing video evidence. Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin stated the officer had received “dozens of stitches and abrasions all over his body” during the June incident while attempting to arrest a suspected “child sex offender.”

Vice-President JD Vance stated at a White House press briefing on Thursday that the officer “nearly had his life ended” when he was “dragged by a car six m
