The Alan Border and Belinda Clarke Awards, Australia’s highest awards for cricketers, have been announced.

Starc is the 5th bowler to be nominated for the award in the last 22 years. Earlier bowlers Pat Cummins, Mitchell Johnson, Brad Lee and Glenn McGrath had won the award.

Similarly, Ashley Gardner has won the award for the first time in women’s cricket.

Players for this award will be selected on the basis of votes cast by cricketers, umpires and media representatives. Accordingly, the list of nominees for the award for the year 2021-22 has been published.

With the Women’s Ashes Test cricket series currently underway, the announcement of the award has been made.

Mitchell Starc has taken a total of 43 wickets in the last one year. He won the award by 1 vote more than all-rounder Mitchell Marsh.

Apart from this, the details of the other award winning players are as follows: –

Travis Head has been named Australia’s Test Cricketer of the Year, Mitchell Starc has been named ODI Player of the Year and Mitchell Marsh has been named T20I Player of the Year.

Former players Justin Langer and Raleigh Thompson have been inducted into the Hall of Fame of Australian Cricket.

Alyssa Helly has been named Australia’s ODI Player of the Year and Beth Mooney has been named the T20I Player of the Year.
