Mitsubishi launches in Israel the new Eclipse Cross PHEV, a crossover with advanced hybrid drive technology with a pollution-free electric range of 45 km and fast DC charging

The Mitsubishi importer from Israel is launching the dynamic and sporty Eclipse Cross in a plug-in hybrid PHEV version. After several very successful years for the category leader the Outlander PHEV, now its younger and new “brother” is coming to the market in Israel. To date, the Eclipse has sold about 9,000 vehicles in Israel.

Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross PHEV brings a technological line of performance and includes, among other things, Mitsubishi’s latest design language, the Dynamic Shield. The drive unit is the product of continuous development and a decade of experience in the manufacture of plug-in hybrid systems, and includes a full electric range of 45 km, an average combined fuel consumption of 50 km per liter* according to the WLTP standard (at 100 km/h).

Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross PHEV will be marketed in Israel in three trim levels with premium equipment and a high level of safety at a starting price of NIS 219,900.

Mitsubishi’s PHEV models play a key role in Mitsubishi Motors’ environmental commitment to reduce carbon emissions by 40% by 2030 and achieve a zero carbon footprint by 2050.

The hybrid drive unit combines a 2.4-liter MIVEC engine operating with the Atkinson cycle method for high energy efficiency, providing 98 hp and 19.7 kg. The gasoline engine is assisted by a pair of electric motors: a front electric motor with a capacity of 82 hp and a rear electric motor that directly drives the rear wheels with a capacity of 95 hp.

The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross PHEV has a compact lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 13.8 kWh operating at a high voltage of 300V. The battery is placed in the floor of the vehicle to lower the center of gravity and for a lot of space in the passenger and cargo space, and with the help of a smart energy management system to optimize performance, the battery enables a driving range of 45 km in electric driving mode.

The combination of the electric driving mode and the hybrid capabilities of the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross PHEV drive unit makes it possible to achieve an average fuel consumption of 50 km per liter* according to the WLTP standard.

  • EV mode – for full electric driving
  • Combined hybrid mode – for driving in a combination of the gasoline engine and the electric motors for maximum fuel savings
  • Charge mode – for self-charging of the battery
  • Save mode – to reduce the use of battery energy and conserve energy for the rest of the trip

The combination of the two electric motors makes it possible to produce a smart dual drive system with power distribution on demand according to the road conditions. technology Super All Wheel Drive Control Combines the electric motors in each axis according to the grip conditions monitored by sensors and the vehicle’s computer. The system works in combination with the traction control and active stability control systems to regulate the force between the wheels for maximum grip on the road and off-road.

The gasoline engine of the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross PHEV also serves as a built-in generator to continuously charge the battery while driving or stationary depending on the selected driving mode, including a dedicated charging mode. A regenerative charging system with six operating modes, controlled by levers behind the steering wheel, allows the braking energy to be recovered to charge the battery while driving.

The battery can also be charged by connecting to the mains. AC charging of the battery is possible using a household power outlet (mode 2) or a managed charging station (mode 3) within 6 to 7 hours. In addition, the battery in the Eclipse Cross PHEV supports fast DC charging (mode 4) up to a rate of 50 kilowatts. In fast positions, it is possible to charge 80% of the battery in only 25 minutes.

Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross PHEV is offered in three trim levels that include rich equipment and meticulous interior finishing that are accepted in the worlds of luxury cars.

All models are equipped with a multimedia system that combines access to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on an innovative 9-inch floating screen with WAZE navigation and a host of other applications for an interactive user experience. The system is integrated in a Bluetooth hands-free with operation from the steering wheel and a rear camera, steering wheel control over the audio system and 6 speakers.

Executive trim level includes: Dual-zone split climate control, electrically folding side mirrors, smart key for entry and drive, electric handbrake with Auto Hold function, leather-covered steering wheel and gear knob, dark rear windows, roof rails, daytime running lights and fog lights in LED technology, automatic light sensor, sensor Rain, original rear parking sensors, light rims with a diameter of 18 inches.

The Premium finish level includes, in addition to the Executive finish level equipment, also: Color head-up data display (HUD), auto-dimming central mirror, electric panoramic sunroof, LED main lighting, electric adjustment for the driver’s seat, synthetic leather upholstery in combination with chamois.

In addition to the accessories in the Premium finish level, the Luxury finish level also includes: Leather upholstery, electric adjustment for the driver and passenger seat, leather-like door trims, black roof trim, heated front seats, heated steering wheel and front parking sensors.

The Eclipse Cross PHEV received a five-star safety rating and 97% in adult protection in Euro NCAP’s crash tests. The Eclipse Cross PHEV is equipped with advanced protection systems as standard, including 7 airbags, a tire pressure monitoring system and a signal during emergency braking.

At the same time, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross PHEV has a comprehensive array of safety and active driver assistance systems based on radar, camera and peripheral sensors.

All Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross PHEV models are equipped with the following systems:

FCM An autonomous braking system that includes pedestrian detection. If the system detects a risk of collision, it warns the driver out loud, and helps reduce a collision or, depending on the situation, prevents a collision by automatically braking the vehicle up to a speed of 80 km/h when detecting a moving vehicle and 65 km/h when detecting pedestrians.

LDW Lane departure warning system. This system alerts the driver through a visual and audible indication when it senses that the car is about to veer out of its lane.

AHB Automatic control of high beams. This system monitors the headlights and fog lights of oncoming vehicles, as well as the street lighting and ambient light levels, and automatically switches between high and low lighting accordingly.

ACC An intelligent adaptive cruise control system that maintains a specified speed and distance from the vehicle in front. The system has a “crawling through traffic jams” mechanism that allows the vehicle to come to a complete stop without disconnecting the system and start driving independently.

AVAS An acoustic system for pedestrians in electric driving mode that warns of the approach of the vehicle.

Premium finish level additionally includes:

BSW A system that detects and warns of traffic in dead areas on the sides of the vehicle by indicating in the side mirrors.

RTCA A system that warns against rear crossing traffic while reversing and exiting a parking lot.

The Luxury finish level additionally includes:

UMS A system to prevent collision with foreign objects at the beginning of a journey based on 8 peripheral sensors in the front and back.
