Modi Celebrates Indian Women’s Cricket Team’s World Cup Triumph

The Prime Minister also revisited iconic moments from the team’s journey, including Harleen Kaur’s spectacular catch against England in 2021 – a play he had previously acknowledged on social media. He also discussed Harmanpreet Kaur’s instinctive decision to secure the ball after the final match, a memento she cherishes.
A lighthearted moment arose when the Prime Minister referenced Amanjot Kaur’s memorable catch, initially marked by several fumbles before a successful grab. Kaur playfully acknowledged it as “one fumble which she likes to see,” prompting the Prime Minister to offer a piece of advice: “While catching you must be seeing the ball, but after the catch you must be seeing the trophy.”
The meeting concluded on a personal note when Kranti Gaud mentioned her brother’s admiration for the Prime Minister, leading to an immediate invitation for him to visit.
