Morocco-Spain: Pedro Sanchez’s visit reflects the desire of the two countries to consolidate their strategic (academic) partnership
Rabat – The visit of the President of the Spanish government, Pedro Sanchez, to Morocco reflects the desire of the two countries to consolidate their multidimensional strategic partnership, underlined academic Abdelali Barouki, specialist in Moroccan-Spanish relations at Mohammed V University in Rabat .
In a statement to MAP, Mr. Barouki noted that this visit confirms the solidity of Moroccan-Spanish ties which recorded a qualitative leap thanks to that carried out by the head of the Spanish government in the Kingdom in April 2022, on invitation from HM King Mohammed VI.
The academic emphasized the depth of the relations between Rabat and Madrid which draw their foundation from the concordance of views on numerous issues of common interest, notably immigration and cooperation in the security field. The two countries are intensifying their cooperation in other sectors, namely the movement of people, notably the MRE Transit operation, the consolidation of economic exchanges, in addition to regional issues of interest to the African region and the Mediterranean region, a- he noted.
Moroccan-Spanish relations are also based on “close coordination and mutual trust and respect,” he maintained.
The working visit of Mr. Pedro Sanchez to Morocco is part of the continuity of the new phase of bilateral relations, which began since the meeting between His Majesty the King, may God glorify Him, and the President of the Spanish Government, in April 2022 , and the adoption, on this occasion, of the Joint Declaration between the two countries.
