Morocco/United Arab Emirates: Signing of a letter of intent for cooperation in the areas of strengthening transparency, accountability and governance

Under this document, initialed by Zineb El Adaoui, first president of the Court of Auditors, and the president of the UAEAA, Humaid Obaid Abushibs, the two parties expressed their intention to sign, soon, a memorandum of understanding for establish cooperative relationships aimed at strengthening transparency, responsibility, accountability and governance, as well as leveraging each other’s available resources and areas of excellence, and addressing issues of common interest in the scope of the competence of the two organizations.

Both parties, in line with the letter of intent, aspire that the MOU will encompass cooperation in areas such as joint initiatives on governance, accountability and transparency, as well as development and exchange of best practices in institutional accountability.

They also undertake to set up training and capacity building programs for their staff, to exchange documents, rules and working methodologies, as well as any other area agreed between them.

Both parties also expressed their belief that the signing of a bilateral memorandum of understanding would constitute a fundamental step towards a fruitful partnership and continued, mutually beneficial cooperation and would promote significant progress in the field of control.

As a prelude to the signing of the letter of intent, Ms. El Adaoui and Mr. Humaid Obaid Abushibs discussed the respective experiences of the two countries in terms of financial control and governance, in the presence of the Moroccan ambassador to the United Arab Emirates. , Ahmed Tazi.

Ms. El Adaoui was informed, through presentations made on this occasion, of the methods and means of operation of the UAEAA, as well as its objectives and its working methodology.
