It should end in mid-2026: The miller then plans to close two Landliebe dairies locations in Baden-Württemberg. Around 400 employees are affected.

The Theo Müller group is closing two Landliebe locations in Baden-Württemberg. Around a year ago, the group took over brands and production facilities that had previously belonged to the Dutch dairy company Royal Friesland Campina.

As the group of companies in Freising announced, it informed its approximately 400 employees on Wednesday that it would gradually close down the Heilbronn and Schefflenz locations by mid-2026. The group will produce the local products at other locations in Germany in the future.

Group wants to find socially acceptable solutions

Cornelia Heiser, responsible for the Landliebe business, said that the two locations had no chance of coming back from the deep red numbers. “In the competitive market for dairy products, which also includes the yoghurts and desserts produced at the Heilbronn site, a significant increase in volume and an associated positive cost development are not to be expected in the medium and long term.” It was said that the group of companies would soon begin discussions with the works council in order to find socially acceptable solutions.

The Theo Müller group of companies has independent brands in the dairy industry, such as Müller, Landliebe and Weihenstephan. The group achieved global sales of around seven billion euros in the 2021 financial year, Friesland Campina over eleven billion euros. In Germany, both companies are among the ten largest dairies.
