Woman Found Dead in Norway: Man Arrested and Charged with Murder
A man is in custody following the finding of a woman’s body outdoors in Løkken Verk,Orkland municipality,Norway,on Saturday evening. Police have launched a full investigation and charged the suspect with murder, deploying significant resources too the scene and surrounding area.
the initial alert came at 9:41 PM local time on Saturday, December 13, 2025, after a witness walking in the area reported the discovery to authorities. According to a press release issued late Saturday night,a man was subsequently arrested at his home near the crime scene.
“The police have charged the arrested man with murder under Section 275 of the Criminal Code,” stated Ole Andreas Aftret, a police prosecutor in the Trøndelag police district. Section 275 of the Norwegian Criminal Code stipulates a prison sentence of 8 to 21 years for a conviction of murder.
Early Stages of Investigation
Authorities are emphasizing that the investigation remains in its preliminary phases. “We are working to map out what has happened and the entire course of events,” Aftret explained. He indicated that investigators aim to interrogate the accused “as soon as possible.”
Evidence collected at the scene suggests foul play. Aftret informed Adresseavisen that “there where signs of violence at the scene,” which prompted investigators to immediately classify the case as a murder investigation. The suspect has not yet retained legal counsel.
Details remain Scarce
Police have been tight-lipped regarding specific details of the case, including the identities of the victim and the accused. They have not released information concerning their ages. The arrest itself was reported as uneventful. “The arrest took place without drama,” said team leader Ketil Stene shortly before 1:00 AM on Sunday, December 14, 2025. Stene added that the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body – its location and condition – were key factors in initiating the murder investigation.
The area where the woman was found is described as a built-up residential area, though the precise distance between the discovery site and the suspect’s residence remains undisclosed.
Forensic Analysis Underway
A significant police presence remains at the scene, with forensic technicians meticulously collecting evidence. Authorities have secured the area and are conducting a thorough search for additional clues. An autopsy is scheduled to be performed on the deceased to determine the cause and manner of death.
“We have collected what we have of available resources,” Stene stated. “We have forensics technicians working on the scene and we have launched an enquiry. We have investigators who interrogate witnesses.”
Investigators are also focusing on identifying and interviewing potential witnesses who may have been in the area on Saturday evening. Aftret stated, “We are working to identify relevant witnesses. Who has observed what and who was in the area when this happened.”
Single Perpetrator Suspected
At this time, police believe the incident involved a single perpetrator. “There is nothing to suggest that others should have had anything to do with the murder,” Aftret affirmed. “The main hypothesis is that there is one perpetrator and one victim.”
Authorities have not yet determined if the woman was killed at the location where she was found. They are also declining to comment on whether the victim and the accused had any prior relationship. “We don’t want to say anything about that for now,” Aftret said.
Operations manager Ellen Maria Brende confirmed a considerable police presence in the area, with eight patrols deployed to secure the scene and maintain public safety. “We are massively present with eight police patrols,” Brende said at midnight on Saturday. “We have decided to create a investigative co-base coordinating the investigation as we do in larger cases.”
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities anticipate producing the accused for a remand hearing on Monday.
