Musanid Platform Clarifies Maximum Rates for Recruiting Domestic Workers to Saudi Arabia – Excludes Visa Fees and Value Added Tax

Jeddah – The Musanid platform for recruitment procedures has clarified that the maximum rate set by the Ministry of Manpower and Social Development for recruiting and delivering domestic workers to Saudi Arabia does not include visa fees and value added tax. In response to an inquiry in this regard, Musanid Platform said that employers have to bear the visa fee and value added tax in addition to the maximum rate set by the ministry.
The Ministry of Manpower and Social Development had yesterday reduced the maximum rates that recruitment firms can charge for recruiting and delivering domestic workers from various countries. Recruitment rates from the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Uganda, Kenya and Ethiopia have been reduced. The maximum rate that can be charged to recruit and deliver a domestic worker from the Philippines is from 15,900 Rials to 14,700 Rials, from Sri Lanka from 15,000 Rials to 13,800 Rials, from Bangladesh from 13,000 Rials to 11,750 Rials, from Kenya from 10,870 Rials to 9,000 Rials and from Uganda 9 ,500 riyals to 8,300 riyals from Ethiopia The rate has been reduced from 6,900 riyals to 5,900 riyals.
The ministry recently set the maximum rate for recruiting and delivering domestic workers from Sierra Leone and Burundi to 7,500 riyals and 10,000 riyals from Thailand. The Ministry has so far fixed the maximum rates that can be charged for the recruitment and delivery of domestic workers from a total of nine countries. The Ministry of Manpower and Social Development said it would ensure compliance of these rates by recruitment offices and companies and take punitive action against firms charging higher than the prescribed rates.
