Since its invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Russia has been cracking down on dissenters.

Russian Stanislav Netiosov, whose hair is dyed blue, yellow and green, went to a Moscow police station over the weekend after he was attacked at a bus stop, rights group OVD-Info reported. “Police officers decided that Mr. Netiosov’s hairstyle symbolizes Ukraine and discredits the Russian army, and drew up a protocol,” OVD-Info said in a statement. Police officers also served S. Netiosov with a summons to appear at the military commissariat, OVD-Info reported.

Russia has already punished thousands of people for criticizing the Kremlin’s war in Ukraine.

Also over the weekend, 67-year-old Moscow pediatrician Nadezhda Buyanova was jailed for two months for spreading “false” information about the Russian military. She was sued by the widow of a soldier who died in Ukraine, her lawyer Oskars Cherzhiev announced at the weekend.

In February, N. Bujanova was charged with “spreading false information about the Russian military” and was released with a ban on her phone and Internet access. According to rights groups, a Moscow court upped the sentence and jailed her for failing to report her movements.

The case against N. Buyanov was opened when the soldier’s widow Anastasia Akinshina came to her with her son and later released a video in which she claims that the doctor said that her husband was a “legitimate target of Ukraine”. N. Bujanova has denied saying these words, and rights groups claim that the audio recording of the conversation was not presented in court.

In February, security services conducted a search of her apartment, a photo shared on social networks showed N. Bujanova standing among her belongings and papers scattered around. She was also fired from her job at a Moscow clinic.
