On November 3, 1978 the telefilm “Diff’rent Strokes” made its debut on NBC, which a few years later will be broadcast in Italy by Canale 5 and Italia 1 with the title “Il mioamico Arnold”. The series, which is divided into 189 episodes, collected over eight seasons, stars two black children adopted by a wealthy businessman from Manhattan. The comedy sitcom has a great success with the public and in some “special episodes” also deals with problematic issues such as racism, drug use and sexual abuse of children. Here is what happened to the protagonists starting from Gary Coleman, interpreter of little Arnold, the undisputed protagonist of the series. Born with congenital kidney disease, Gary Coleman always suffered from nephritis which blocked his physical growth. After the success of the show, Coleman continued his acting career until the middle of the last decade. In 2010 he hit his head violently due to an accident and died at the hospital in Provo (Utah) at the age of 42.
