Naples Weather Alert: Hydrogeological Risk – Dec 23-25

City parks will be closed and the North Pontoon of Bagnoli will be off-limits. Public beaches are also closed to visitors.

Relevant phenomena:
Local rainfall, including showers or thunderstorms, regularly of moderate intensity. Locally strong south-westerly winds, especially on the islands in the morning. Rough sea, especially in the morning along the exposed coasts.

Type of risk:
Hydrogeological Localized.

Main event scenarios and ground effects:

– Surface runoff with possible material transport phenomena;

– Possible flooding of underground rooms and those on the ground floor;

– Surface flow of water in roadways, possible regurgitation phenomena of rainwater disposal systems with overflow and involvement of depressed areas;

– Increase in the hydrometric levels of watercourses, with flooding of neighboring areas, also due to local critical issues (burrowing, narrowing, etc.);

– Possible rock falls in several places in the area and occasional landslides linked to fragile hydrogeological conditions.

– Surface runoff with possible material transport phenomena;

– Possible flooding of underground rooms and those on the ground floor;

– Surface flow of water in roadways, possible regurgitation phenomena of rainwater disposal systems with overflow and involvement of depressed areas;

– Increase in the hydrometric levels of watercourses, with flooding of neighboring areas, also due to local critical issues (burrowing, narrowing, etc.);

– Possible rock falls in several places in the area and occasional landslides linked to fragile hydrogeological conditions.

Behavioral rules in the event of a weather warning notice for strong gusts of wind

– Use caution near trees and vertical structures for the possible fall of branches, trees, poles, signs or scaffolding and, in any case, repo
