The National campaign for an Ecuador free of polio, measles and rubella continues successfully in the 24 provinces of the country. According to the latest report from the National Immunization Directorate of the Ministry of Public Health (MSP), 2,487,373 boys and girls from 1 to 12 years of age have been vaccinated.
The goal of the campaign is to apply an additional dose to around 3.7 million children.
For Susana Caranqui, mother of one-year-old Ericka, the campaign has been very well received. “Thanks to the promotion they do in the communities, I learned about the importance of this vaccine and all the diseases it prevents. Today I vaccinated my baby so that she is healthy,” thanked the mother, who took her little girl to the Health Center Type B Guano, in the province of Chimborazo.
Danna, 10 years old, arrived with her mother at the Jacinto Collaguazo Educational Unit in Otavalo (Imbabura), where she receives basic education. There she was immunized to prevent these diseases. “Today they came to this MSP staff to vaccinate our children with the booster against measles, rubella and poliomyelitis,” stressed the mother of the family.
In addition, he made a call to all parents who have children between 1 and 12 years of age. “We as parents must be responsible and take care that our children are healthy, since they are the main axis of our society,” she said.
This Saturday, June 3, 2023, phase II of the 2023 National Vaccination Campaign against polio, measles, and rubella will begin from the El Quinche parish, with the presence of the Minister of Public Health, José Ruales.
This second stage of vaccination consists of extramural activities to immunize children from 1 to 12 years of age at their homes, shopping malls, bus terminals, parks, and other places with a mass concentration of people.
