We see the transition towards a greener world not only in the automotive or industry, but also in the food sector, which seeks to limit the environmental impact of its activity by designing packaging or products that respect the environment.
With the help of Ecoembes, a non-profit environmental organization, 79 Basque companies applied measures in 2021 and 2022 to reduce the environmental impact of their packaging. The majority of them, 71%, were small and medium-sized companies.
This commitment by Basque companies to minimize the footprint of their packaging has resulted in 267 eco-design measures implemented in 2021 and 2022. By sector, 92% of the measures correspond to the food sector, followed by companies dedicated to food equipment. home (4%) and personal and home care (2%). For its part, the textile and leather industry and the motor and leisure sector drove the remaining 2%. Almost one in four measures were aimed at making packaging more easily recyclable.
