Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra set a new national record by throwing a distance of 89.30 meters at the Pao Noormi Games in Finland. With this he won the silver medal in this competition. Oliver Holland of Finland won the gold medal in the javelin throw of 89.83 meters.
Neeraj Chopra won gold in the javelin throw at 87.58 m at the Tokyo Olympics. This made Neeraj Chopra the second Indian to win an individual gold medal at the Olympics.
He had earlier set a national record of 88.07 meters in javelin throw in March last year in Patiala. He broke the old record and set a new national record by competing in Finland. It is noteworthy that Neeraj Chopra is currently competing in Finland after the Tokyo Olympics.
