India’s javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra has withdrawn from the Commonwealth Games to be held in Britain, the Indian Olympic Organization said.

Neeraj Chopra had won a silver medal at the World Athletics Championships in the United States on Sunday. It is to be noted that Neeraj Chopra is the defending champion after winning the gold medal in javelin at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast.

“Our Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra will not participate in the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham,” the Indian Olympic Federation tweeted. The decision was taken because of his fitness issues. We wish him a speedy recovery and support him in this challenging time.”
