The International Chess Olympiad will be held at Mamallapuram tomorrow (Thursday). On this occasion, various awareness chess competitions are held to bring awareness about this program to the public in every district.

In Nellai district also, under the arrangement of Collector Vishnu, competitions were conducted in various stages for the students of government and government aided schools.

In this case, as a part of it, the Olympiad series torch relay was held at Palai V.U.C. It was held today at the indoor sports hall in the stadium. For this, officials led by Cheranmahadevi Sub-Collector Rishabh brought the torch from Madurai last night.

Speaker Appavu attended the function presided over by Collector Vishnu this morning and presented certificates and prizes to the winners of the chess tournament.

Later Speaker Appavu started the torch relay and flew colorful awareness balloons. The rally was organized by V.U.C. Starting from the stadium, it reaches Anna Stadium via Nellie Medical College and then goes to Nanguneri, Valliyur and from there it is taken to Chennai by Kanyakumari Express train.

Mayor Saravanan, Deputy Mayor KR Raju, Municipal Police Deputy Commissioner Srinivasan, former M.P. Vijila Satyanand, District Sports Officer, Coordinators, News-Public Relations Officer Jaya Arulpathi and others were present.
