Nepal Vice Chancellor Election: 4 nominations filed

4 candidates, including three women, have filed their nominations to compete in the Nepali Vice-President election.

Sonda Ramchandra Beldale of the Nepali Congress Party has been elected as the President of Nepal, while the election of the Vice President will take place on March 17.

CPN-UML vice president Ashtalashmi Shakya, Janata Samajwadi Party’s Ram Sakaya Yadav, Pramila Kumari Yadav and Janamat Party’s Mamata Jhar have filed their nominations.

Mamata Jha and Pramila Kumari Yadav will miss the Madhesi community. Both of them will be part of the ruling CPN-Maoist Center-Nepali Congress-led 8-party alliance.

According to the Constitution of Nepal, the President must be a man and the Vice President must be a woman; Similarly, the principal must be of a different race and not of a related race. According to Atip Ram Chandra Beladale, since he belongs to Kass Aryan race, the vice-chancellor should not belong to that race.

The meeting of the 8 party alliance led by Nepali Congress, CPN-Maoist Center will be held on Sunday. In this the official candidate will be announced. The Election Commission has announced that the final candidate list will also be published on Sunday.

Members of Parliament (332) and members of the Provincial Assembly (550) vote in the Vice-Chancellor election as well.
