The company committees of the factories of Nestlé in Girona, La Penilla (Cantabria), Sevares and Gijón (Asturias) yesterday urged management to “unblock their collective agreements” and for them to include a purchasing power maintenance clause linked to the “real CPI”. The workers’ representatives have called for a meeting next Tuesday concentration in front of the headquarters of the multinationallocated in Esplugues de Llobregat.

The main claim of the workers is maintain purchasing power and that is why they ask to link wages to the increase in the “real” CPI for each year of the agreement. The unions say that it is a clause that until now all the workers in Nestlé’s production centers throughout the State had and that the company is now refusing to renew. Pablo Esteban, Secretary General of CCOO Nestlé Spain and state representative of the Girona factory, urges the company to change its negotiation strategy to avoid the breakdown of social peace in Girona.
