The achievements of the right: During the coalition negotiations, Religious Zionist Chairman Bezalel Smotrich managed to obtain from Netanyahu a promise that the application of Israeli sovereignty in Judea and Samaria would be promoted.

The wording of the section dealing with this in the coalition agreement is relatively vague: “The people of Israel have a natural right to the Land of Israel. In light of the belief in the aforementioned right, the Prime Minister will lead the formulation and promotion of a policy within which sovereignty will be extended to the Yash, while choosing the timing and weighing all the national and international interests of the State of Israel.”

Netanyahu does not commit to a timetable for the application of sovereignty, but commits to actually starting to promote the move.

The last time Netanyahu committed to the application of Israeli sovereignty in Yash, this did not materialize.

Ben Gabir’s Otzma Yehudit party is proud of having succeeded in introducing the death penalty law for terrorists into the coalition agreement with the Likud. According to the agreement with the Likud, the law will pass in the Knesset before the state budget for 2023 is passed.

The agreement states that due to the intensification of acts of terrorism aimed at harming the State of Israel as the state of the Jewish people, and in order to consciously defeat the threats, the coalition factions will enact, prior to the passage of the budget for 2023, a death penalty law for terrorists.

A death penalty law for terrorists currently exists in military law and to implement it requires a unanimous majority. Ben Gabir also demanded to amend the military law and allow the death penalty for terrorists with a simple majority.

The security establishment has been opposing this law for years, due to the fear of increased terrorism and kidnappings of soldiers.
