Electricity prices are increasing by 8.50 percent at the retail level and 5.074 percent at the wholesale level. At the consumer level, the price is increasing from 34 paisa to a maximum of 70 paisa. State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said the new prices will be effective from February.

The state minister told reporters in his office at the secretariat on Thursday (February 29). He said that the gazette will be issued today on February 29 by increasing the price.

The Minister of State for Power said that the price of electricity per unit will increase by 34 paise on the lower side and 70 paise on the upper side. That is, 5 percent will increase downwards. About 8 and a half percent upwards.

He said, the end of the month may increase by 5 to 8 taka per 100 taka. Our electricity generation cost per unit is around Rs.12. It was 7 to 8 rupees. On an average we are selling per unit at Rs.7. The adjustment is increasing upwards, decreasing downwards.

The state minister also said that a notification has been issued fixing the price of oil at dynamic prices. It will be implemented from March 1. The increase in electricity prices will be implemented from February 1. We have adjusted the price of fuel to electricity. We have made an adjustment of 70 paisa in the price at which the power plants used to buy gas. Oil prices are also dynamically priced.

Nasrul Hamid said, there has been a huge change in the prices we used to buy fuels including coal, oil and gas. This has changed drastically in the past year. For this reason, I was thinking of adjusting the price of fuel with the dollar. Moving towards a dynamic price for fuel. It will start from March 1. Notification will be issued tomorrow.

Nasrul Hamid said, dynamic price means if the price of fuel increases in the world, then it will increase in coordination with it in our country. If it decreases in the world, it will also decrease in our country. This will be done in the first week of every month. Our neighboring countries do this every day. For example: If we talk about Kolkata, the price of one liter of diesel there is 133 rupees. Diesel price in our country is 109 rupees.

The state minister said that we have to adjust the price of gas with the dollar. Gas import is at a sustainable level. If we mix it with gas, then it falls above 24 rupees. I am giving this gas at the rate of 16 taka, electricity at the rate of 14 taka, due to which the price of gas has been increased to 14 taka 70 paisa.
