New MacBook Pro with M4 chip family, the entry model has greatly improved functionality |.

by time news
Apple has announced new 2024 MacBook Pro models. These new models include the M4 Pro and models equipped with the latest M4 Max processor.

However, Apple made an unexpected move. They put an M4 processor on the entry-level MacBook Pro, and kept the price the same while adding even more functionality.

The new MacBook Pro M4 will be available in 14-inch and 16-inch screen sizes.

For many users, the new, faster M4 processor will provide adequate performance. However, until now, you were forced to make some compromises when choosing a chip for an entry-level model, but now that situation has changed dramatically.

New black color space for all models

The first thing to notice is the color. Previously, you had to upgrade to a higher-end processor to get the MacBook Pro in its attractive Space Black finish. However, starting this year, Space Black is now available as an option on all MacBook Pros.

Until now, choosing a faster processor would also upgrade the minimum amount of RAM and connectivity, but the latest model now includes it in the cheaper MacBook Pro models as well.

The minimum memory is 16GB

The increase in RAM capacity is not surprising. That’s because the newly announced Mac mini has increased the minimum RAM capacity to 16GB for all models.

The entry model also has 3 USB-C ports

However, the improved connectivity is worth mentioning. Previously, the entry-level MacBook Pro only had two USB-C ports on the left side, but this model adds one on the right side, making it the same number of ports as the higher-end model.

If you’ve ever had a cable that doesn’t reach all the way to your left side in some situations, you’ll understand how convenient this change is.

Of course, Apple is offering additional benefits to users who choose the faster M4 Pro or M4 Max chips. These models have a Thunderbolt 5 port, but the entry-level model still has Thunderbolt 4.

A “Show Nanotextures” option is also available. This option isn’t cheap (for example, the iMac costs an extra ¥30,000 (tax included)), but it’s now available on all MacBook Pros. For iMacs, on the other hand, this option is limited to higher end models.

The front camera of the new MacBook Pro has been improved, and all models are now equipped with a 12MP “center-frame” sensor.

The theme that emerges from this is that this year’s iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are much closer to the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max than before.

Apple includes key features in every MacBook Pro M4 model, increasing the value of the product and offering premium features to users who want a higher price point. Prices start at 248,800 yen including tax, the same as last year’s model.

Dr. Chen: Thank you for having me! I’m excited to discuss ⁣Apple’s latest innovations.

Editor: Apple has ‌introduced the M4 Pro and ⁤M4 Max chips, but they made quite a stir with the entry-level MacBook Pro featuring the M4 processor. What do you think⁢ this means for consumers?

Dr. Chen: Absolutely, this is a game ‌changer! Historically, entry-level models often came with performance compromises.⁢ Now, with the M4 processor, customers can enjoy ⁤a more powerful machine without stepping up to a higher price bracket. This‌ will ⁣definitely appeal to a wide range of users—from students to professionals who need robust performance on a budget.

Editor: ‌Exactly! And they kept the pricing the same while adding functionality. That’s a unique strategy ‍for Apple, wouldn’t you say?

Dr. Chen: Definitely! Apple is usually associated with premium pricing, but by‌ not increasing costs while enhancing features, they’re targeting a ⁢broader audience. This could be a strategic move to attract both new users and those who may have been on the fence about making a switch to Mac.

Editor: Now, let’s talk about the stunning ⁢new Space ‌Black finish that’s available across all models. How important is this color upgrade for consumers?

Dr. Chen: Color ⁤plays a ‌significant role in consumer appeal, especially in tech. Space Black looks sleek and professional, appealing‍ to those who care about aesthetics.⁤ Offering it as a standard option across all models removes the barrier of having to pay extra for that premium ‌finish, which is a smart marketing ‌decision.

Editor: I also noticed that the⁤ minimum RAM has been upped to 16GB. What implications ⁢does this have for the average user?

Dr. Chen: Increasing the minimum⁢ to 16GB is a crucial development. It shows that Apple is acknowledging the needs of today’s users, who often⁤ multitask ⁣and work with memory-hungry applications. This change doesn’t just enhance performance but adds longevity to the device, as it future-proofs the MacBook for years to come.

Editor: And let’s not forget the expanded connectivity options! The entry-level model now has three USB-C ports. How does that enhance the user experience?

Dr. Chen: That’s ⁤a fantastic update! The added USB-C port on the right ⁣side significantly improves convenience for users who may have peripherals‌ or cables that can’t reach the left side. It’s all about user-centric design, and this change reflects Apple’s understanding of their customers’ needs.

Editor: The higher-end⁤ models do have⁣ Thunderbolt 5 ports, while the entry-level model has Thunderbolt 4. In your opinion, will this⁣ affect the buying decisions of potential‌ customers?

Dr. Chen: It might for some users,⁤ particularly those who rely on high-speed data transfers or advanced ‌connectivity options for their⁢ work. However, for the‌ majority of entry-level⁣ users, Thunderbolt 4 will be more than sufficient. Apple’s differentiation here is about catering to professionals while still providing robust options for casual users.

Editor: You’ve provided some wonderful insights today, Emily! With all these changes, do you think Apple has maintained its reputation for innovation?

Dr. Chen: Absolutely! By balancing performance, aesthetics, and user experience, Apple continues to innovate while catering to a ‌diverse consumer base. They’re setting a new standard for what users can expect from an entry-level laptop‌ without compromising quality.

Editor: Thanks so ⁣much for your time and expertise, Dr. Chen. It’s clear⁤ that the 2024 MacBook Pro lineup is positioned to appeal to a broad audience. We appreciate ‍your insights!
