Like every year, the unmissable event with the Wiener Philharmoniker returns for New Year’s Eve. The 2024 concert, proposed by Rai Cultura today Monday 1 January at 1.30 pm on Rai 2 and at 9.15 pm on Rai 5, will take place, as usual, in the Golden Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna, under the direction of Maestro Christian Thielemann, for the second time at the helm of this prestigious concert, which he had already conducted in 2019.
The concert program
The musical program includes the performance of famous masterpieces by the Strauss family, of which the Vienna Philharmonic traditionally offers unparalleled interpretations. Also added to the repertoire are pieces by Joseph Hellmesberger, Carl Michael Ziehrer, Anton Bruckner and Hans Christian Lumbye, some of which have never been performed before in a New Year’s Concert.
