Kanjirapally വിനെ A newborn baby was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a water-filled canvas in the bathroom. The baby born to Suresh and Nisha on Sunday was found dead at Moothedathumala in Idakkunnam Mukkali. Police said Nisha testified that she told her eldest child to stay in Kansas when the baby became immobile. Police have launched an investigation.
Nisha and her children were the only ones at home at the time of the incident. Her husband Suresh, a painting worker, went to work. When the woman in the neighborhood heard the baby crying yesterday, she sent everyone back home saying she was a coward. Suspicious, they informed Ashavarkar. Ashavarkar, along with health department officials, arrived home at around 11.30 am and saw signs of childbirth. The baby’s body was found during a search of the house, which had only one room, a kitchen and a bathroom.
Nisha was admitted to the General Hospital under police surveillance with a case of unnatural death. Police said they have asked the Child Welfare Committee to take steps to relocate the children. The cause of death will be known only after receiving the postmortem report, police said. The body is in the Kottayam District Hospital mortuary. The postmortem will be performed today at the Medical College. Nisha, who has a birth defect in her left leg, has 5 children besides the dead baby.
