New Delhi: Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinet has accused the Election Commission of not taking action against PM Modi. He said that the Election Commission is not taking action on the complaint lodged against Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding his remarks on ‘redistribution of wealth’ and in such a situation the party is exploring legal remedies. Shrinet said that people should have full trust in institutions like the Election Commission and if that trust has been shaken then they should work to restore it. He said, ‘Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave hate speeches in Rajasthan. My colleagues met the Election Commission on Monday and we have leveled allegations against him. Since they are not acting on our complaint, we are considering legal remedies.

The Congress on Monday moved the Election Commission seeking ‘appropriate action’ against Modi for his ‘redistribution of wealth’ remarks at an election rally in Rajasthan, alleging that the comments were ‘divisive’, ‘malicious’ and a Targeted a particular religious community. On Sunday, the Prime Minister had created a political controversy by claiming that the Congress manifesto promised ‘redistribution’ of wealth after conducting the survey.

Shrinate said, ‘We hope that this will be a free and fair election. But we find very little evidence of this. He said that the less said about the Election Commission’s action against BJP, the better. On the proper functioning of EVMs, Shrinate said, ‘Even if a person says that his vote did not go to the one he had intended to cast, it is the responsibility of institutions like the Election Commission to restore the confidence of the people.’ He said that the opposition parties are pressing for 100 percent VVPAT counting, but the Election Commission has not accepted it.
